A Blueprint describes a person's energy, calculated from birth date, time and place. We use the principles of the Human Design system as the frame and write everything in our own words, easy for parents to read and practical with children.
Where it comes from
The Human Design system was first shared in 1987. It brings together ideas from several traditions: the I Ching, astrology, the chakra system, the Kabbalah Tree of Life and some ideas from modern physics.
This system has not been scientifically proven. We suggest testing it against your own life and keeping only what helps your family understand each other.
How is it different from astrology, MBTI and the Enneagram?
Many families have tried astrology or a personality test, so it's natural to wonder whether Human Design is just another one. They start from different places. Human Design doesn't ask who you think you are, and it doesn't hand you a character to identify with. It tries to describe how each person's energy and rhythm work in everyday life.
Astrology
Reads the planets as symbols and tells a story about character and fate
InterpretiveMBTI and the Enneagram
You answer questions about yourself and get sorted into a group, so the result depends on how you see yourself that day
Self-reportedHuman Design
Works out a chart from birth date, time and place, then turns it into how to live: when to start, wait, respond and decide
Practical, day to dayThe chart is worked out from planetary positions, like astrology, but Human Design doesn't predict the future. What you get is a kind of user's guide: your type describes when to start or wait, and your way of deciding points to which inner signal to trust. Both are about the body and feelings, not only the thinking mind.
Most importantly, you don't have to believe it first. Try deciding the way your chart suggests for a few weeks and notice whether your days run more smoothly. Anything that doesn't ring true, you can set aside. For your child, a Blueprint isn't a label to live up to. It's a way to see and respect their rhythm a little better.
How the chart is made
We calculate 13 positions (the Sun, Moon and planets) twice: at birth, called the conscious side, and when the Sun was 88 degrees earlier, about 88 days before birth, called the unconscious side.
Each position lands on one of 64 gates. When the gates at both ends of a channel are active, the channel is coloured, and so are the centres at both ends.

The 9 centres
A coloured centre works in a steady, consistent way. A white centre is open, taking in and learning from people around. It is not a weakness.
Profile
A profile is two numbers, such as 4/6. The first comes from the conscious side and the second from the unconscious side. There are 12 profiles. Each number plays a role:
Wants to know deeply and thoroughly before feeling confident. Solid information brings calm.
Has gifts they may not see themselves, needs time alone, and is often called out by others to use them.
Learns by doing. Falling and getting up again, every mistake is new information, not failure.
Opportunities often come through people they know. Stable relationships matter a lot.
People often expect them to fix hard things. Being aware of those expectations keeps them from burning out.
Life tends to come in phases: try things, step back to watch, then gradually become an example for others.
Definition
Shows how many separate groups the coloured centres form, which relates to processing things alone or through other people.
Using it safely with children
Use it as a question, not a label
Instead of "my child is like this", ask "is that true? let's notice"
Try it for 3 days
Pick one suggestion, try it for 3 days, and note what you see
Development first
If you are worried about development, behaviour or mental health, always talk to a professional first
No comparing
Each child has a different rhythm. No type is better than another
